Kopecky Family Band Private Artist Showcase. I hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season. Santa was good to me this season, leaving a new stereo system for my car under the tree! Not only that, but he left the Kopecky Family Band album Kids Raising Kids to go with it! I’ve been seriously jamming out to this album in my car for the last few days.
I fell in love with the Kopecky Family band when Bill and I attended their WRNR Private Artist Showcase a few months ago at Rams Head on Stage in Annapolis. I had been enjoying a couple of their singles on 103.1 WRNR but seeing them live in this intimate setting really gave me an appreciation for the band and their music.
Kelsey Kopecky started out their set by explaining that she loved music for its ability to make people feel emotions they maybe haven’t felt in a while. That was it. I knew it was going to be a great show because I knew they believed in what they were doing and the power music has.
From there, the band rocked an impressive set, playing a variety of different instruments, encouraging audience participation by handing out tambourines, and having us sing along. Bill and I were lucky enough to sit front and center and snap a few pictures.
Midway through the set, Kelsey also reminded us (Annapolitans) how lucky we were to grow up listening to such great DJs like Bob Waugh and Rob Timm, even back before their days at WRNR. Apparently someone had filled her in about this town’s great radio history before the show. Talk about connecting with the audience! I know all of us native Annapolitans got what she was saying.
The Kopecky Family Band finished their set to a well-deserved standing ovation from a roomful of people that were feeling uplifted by their positive energy and heartfelt music.
I believe in the power of music to connect us and inspire us. I leave you with the first single from the album Kids Raising Kids.
